Artist Statement:
I am a basketry artist whose craft is rooted in the intricate and tactile processes of weaving.
Through these traditional skills, I create abstract sculptural forms that evoke a nuanced organicism, where shape and structure blend with a sense of fluidity and growth. My work explores the delicate balance between natural form and abstraction, transforming humble materials into sculptural pieces that challenge the boundaries between craftsmanship and art.
In addition to my basketry practice, I am currently expanding my artistic exploration through photography. My photographs capture stills of performance art, engaging with conceptual abstraction in ways that offer fresh perspectives on movement, space, and intention. This work invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between time, action, and representation.
My practice is a continuous dialogue between materiality and concept, where each piece speaks to both the intricacies of handmade processes and the broader, more intangible themes of transformation, movement, and the human experience.
